TO THE GLORIES OF THE DAY

This image was inspired by the view of Black Tusk as one leaves the Callaghan Valley. The title is reflective of the time of day with the last light of the setting sun showing the vibrant colours of mountains and forest that give the area its' natural beauty. The title is also meant to acknowledge the effort and enthusiasm of those that participate in the Nordic Events at the Callaghan Valley Venue.

About the Artist

Michael TicknerMichael Tickner
Michael Tickner was born in London, England in 1947. His artwork was first exhibited in a group show at the Passmore Art Gallery when he was eight years old. He was accepted into the prestigious London School of Art after graduating with honours from High School. For the past thirty-one years he has dedicated his life to his art.

In 1987 he started a primitive style of artwork, using primary colours. The colours have remained constant but the style has evolved out of primitive as Michael has added depth and perspective to what has become more detailed work.

The Vancouver Olympic Bid Committee used two of his images in their final presentation package to the I.O.C. Members in Prague, and his work is in many prestigious collections. In one collection recently, a limited edition Picasso was removed to allow the hanging of a Tickner limited edition.

Michael's daringness with colour combined with his artistic ability and patience creates bold, uplifting images that make a powerful statement. To Michael Tickner, spreading joy with his artwork is the most important gift he can give. (Michael also gives a great deal of himself in working with different charities and with school children.) Having created his own unique style, this artist's work is one to be on the lookout for.
